Some anti-depressants can increase thoughts of depression in some people. Go back to that doctor and let him know.

I was doing some research and I came across this website. I read your comment. My father had commited suicide as a result of depression when I was 14 years old. I can see what depression does to people and their families and its not pretty. Suicide is not the answer. Anyways I think the question your asking is what you can do for treatment other then taking pills? I'm no psychologist but from experience and from research exercising helps a lot. There has been a lot of studies that have shown in a period of 6 months people that are dealing with major or minor depression have improved. The workout would was to be three days a week or 30 mins. a day. I know its hard enough to deal with life let alone having to wake up in bed to exercise. However, ITS WORTH IT. You feel better about yourself. Interestly, the pills that release the same chemicals in your brain, that exercise does. Do the research you will see. One book to recommend is, Conquering Depression & Anxiety Through Exercise. Its great!!! Hope things get better.

I have suffered with depression for a long time but I find dealing with it one day at a time helps me . If I focus on just todays problems and if I don't worry about the future life is not so overwhelming. Count your blessings if you start to feel down . No matter how bad things are for you there are people that would trade with you in a minute!! The world is full of suffering ,Compared to some you may find that you are not so bad off after all ! Besides you have no way of knowing what tomorrow wil bring ! Don't give up ! Live one day at a time !! I'm glad now that I didn't end it when I was close to doing it. Please try my suggestion and believe me you won't regret it . Good luck .and don't forget ,count your blessings. It helps.

Unfortunately doctors, like most people, are in business to make money. You may be able to find some that will help without payment but even they have to balance their time to support their personal life (family, bills, house, car, etc...). What you might want to consider is looking into some group level therapy to help with development of coping skills. You may even be able to find a couple books on the subject as well. Also consider a personal support network of people (family/friends) that you can talk to when you are feeling a bit down.
You might want to ask your past therapist for recommendations to individual/group sessions for people that can't afford to pay (either lack of health insurance or general funding issues). I'm sure there are resources out there that the doctors/therapist could point you in the right direction.

Suicide is no answer! It is selfish for one thing, think about your loved ones. There can't be anything in this world worth killing yourself over, maybe someone else, but never yourself (j/k don't report me, I'm not crazy). If there isn't anyone around your community that can help try researching on the web about clinics around you (not in your community). There is plenty of help out there, people don't want you to kill yourself, try a doctor that works for the government. Yes, I know this sounds crazy, but they don't get their money from you so they may care a little more about your problem. And most people who practice medicine for the government do it because they enjoy helping and serving people, not milking you insurance company or pocket book dry!

Please don't give up. Call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-2738255. I suffer from depression and I know some of what you're going through. Don't give up on meds. If you don't like your doctor go to another one till you find one you're comfortable with. The meds won't help overnite. It sometimes takes 1-2 weeks to work, sometimes more. When you have thoughts of suicide call that number anytime and anytime you have thoughts of suicide. They'll help you in any way they can. Please hang in there and call. Your hospital might help you out with the bill. Go to the emergency room and tell them you're having suicidal thoughts and they'll know what to do.

There are a lot of pastors who do counseling w/no fee.
Perhaps you just need to get off of all of the meds and talk to someone who genuinely cares about YOU and not what you are going to pay. Do you have a close friend?
I went through serious depression years ago and it really helped to have a good friend to listen. Drugs did not help me. But going back to church and talking with my pastor and close friends
brought me back to reality.

Stop, and think about what you are doing. You didn't give your self life, so who gave you right to take it away. I don't know if your Christian or not but you need to know that God does not want this. I have no idea what you are going through. Just pray. I saw this in my national paper today that British people are posting on their walls and fridges. Its was a poster from the WW2 to help them prepare for the coming German invasion. People are using again now using it their stressed out lifes.
