I really believe that is depends on the season. They will be alot less expensive in the summer than in the winter. The ones purchased in the winter will be imported in from warmer climates.

Strawberries are VERY seasonal in terms of price and location.
Restaurant suppliers sell strawberries by the "Flat", 12 pints. Some will break this into six, three, or one pint.

I have paid as little as $16 a flat, in season; and as much as $70 a flat in winter.

It really depends on the season. Sometimes it costs $6 a quart, other times it costs $8 for a whole basket (which I think is between 6 and eight quarts). (This is in southern Ontario)
