Hi, I wonder if anyone can tell me what I should do? I lost my necklace and claimed on the insurance for a new one. Only now I have found my old one! What should I do? Do I tell the insurance and if so will the jewelle take back the new one? I feel really bad having the new one now I have found my own. Does anyone know about insurance things? I feel nervous to call them, thanks

If discovered that you filed a false claim
(yes it will be considered false, since you "found" the missing item")
the insurance company can take you to court, make you pay all the court/legal fees and possibly have to do community service

get a clear conscience and contact the insurance company
honesty is always the best policy

Definitely, contact your insurance company or agent. Let them know it was an honest mistake and you wish to correct the situation. There should be no problem. From an insurability standpoint the fewer and the smaller your claims are the better chance you'll get a better price next time you need insurance. What I was wondering though is regarding your deductible--did you have to pay something on the replacement jewelry? I'm not sure what they'll do, but perhaps you could end up with your deductible money back if the company can get all their money back. If your insurance company is not decent about the situation maybe it's time to look for a better company.

the necklace you lost (and found again) belongs to the insurance company. Discuss it with your agent. Don't be nervous. It was an honest mistake and you calling them will show that you are trying to do the right thing.

Yes, you should do the right thing and call the insurance company and tell them what happened. Let them deal with it from there, or otherwise, you will have a record with them that could affect future claims (if any) and your premiums may go up.

Call the insurance comapny and tell them you found the old one and that you want to return the new one. Honesty is always the best policy. If you are feeling guilty about ity, you know it wrong to have both.

The insurance company will understand that you made a honest mistake and now you want to rectify it.

In addition to what was already said, the insurance company may give you the option whether you want to keep your original jewlry or pay back the money for the replacement.

call the company and let them know. yes, they will want the money paid back to them for the claim. if you don't tell them and they find out, its insurance fraud.

You are not the first person to make a claim for missing jewlery that turns up. You need to contact them and see how to proceed, otherwise it is fraud.
