I recently had a conversation with a person who said that it's a sin for us to do kinky things even though we're happily married. This makes no sense to me, what is the logic behind this and what religions observe this?

No logic. Go ahead and get your freak on, homeboy.

There is nothing I can think of in any faith that restricts what two married couples do (except to be unfaithful to each other). The sin of Onan in the Old Testament dealt with a man unwilling to impregnate his brother's widow, as was the custom of the time, more than a sexual activity taboo.

The Kama Sutra actually celebrates coupling in various ways, many of which we would consider exotic. And Tantric Yoga uses sexuality as a spiritual practice.

That person is messed-up and has some serious issues.

You get as freaky as you want.

And know what, you really have to wonder exactly WHAT qualifies as "kinky" to a person like that?

Lingerie? A swing (as in equipment), toys, erotica, or just leaving the light on?

Pleasure always was and continues to be one of the biggest stumbling blocks and pitfalls for fundies.

If you haven't already seen this, let me share this quote with you:

Author David Shaw wrote in "The Pleasure Police" (1996),“Misery does indeed love company; people who aren’t having any fun don’t want anyone else to have any fun either, sexual or otherwise.”

Shaw speaks further about the link between religion and anti-pleasure, saying,”“Maybe it’s precisely because sex is so overpowering, so all-consuming, so capable of not only overwhelming but of obliterating all else, that the extreme religionists among us are so opposed to it, and so appalled by it.”

“Besides, sex is about losing control, about abandoning oneself to the moment.” “Most very religious people seem to think that the only “other”
to whom one should ever abandon oneself is God...”

I dont find it a sin. It's funny because people degrade earth and dont find that to be a sin ie. driving, generating electricity, waste etc. Some people might also believe that the sole purpose of sex is to procreate. However if you and your partner find it to relieve stress then by all means continue. Im Hindu, and I read alot of erotic things in which people do when giving praise to god. Teachings based on ancient Hinduism are Tantric Sex and Kama Sutra.

Once you got married you and your wife made a covenant with God and with each other. You are now free to become "one flesh" with your wife. The true fact of the matter is that as long as you both are willing participants (you and your wife both enjoy the act) then I say have a ball. Issues only come into play when involving animals and other people.

In his religion, maybe it's a sin. But really, it's none of his business, and you are best off not discussing what you and your wife do behind closed doors with this person. You can't win any arguments with him, and his answers will never make sense to you.

People that have strong perverse desires do not like to hear about these sorts of things because it gets them all stirred up inside. They writhe in fear that their inner fiend will come to the surface and force them into an eternity of damnation and pain. Those are the people you have to watch out for, don't let your kids around them without the supervision of someone you can trust.

There is no sin in doing what two consenting, married adults want to do. So lose yourself in the moment and enjoy. It doesn't matter what others think, it's none of their business. Perhaps it's them that misses out. Best Wishes to you.

"God said to Go and Multiply"

The Bible says God blesses that which happens in the bedroom between a married man and woman.

Besides what is freaky to others might not be freaky to you and if both partners agree, there is no problem!!

Crazy religions observe that if you ask me. Nothing wrong with having fun with your wife. The guy who said that (of girl) is probably not having any fun in the bedroom.
