My little brother is six years old, and he eats way too much. I am 18 and I am very concerned about him. I still live with my parents and I try to tell them they are letting him over eat but then they get all mad at me, and say I dont respect them and whatnot. Thats crazy!! They will just let him eat whatever he wants, he eats until he goes to bed, and many nights he will puke up a gallon. I am very concerned about his health, he is not huge but he is way too fat for his age. Does any one have any advice for me??

The best would be if you could take him to a doctor, and have the doctor talk to your parents about your brother's eating problems (obviously, it's problematic if he'spuking, too) .... But if you are unable to do this b/c of your parents, maybe you could spend more time w/ your brother; engage in activities that don't involve food (throwing around a football/softball, taking him to an amusement park, taking him to the toy store) so that maybe he finds an interest in a certain sport or other activity that will interest him and take up his spare time (which I assume he spends eating).

Additionally, if you ever take him out to eat, teach him what a proper portion size is, both by example and by talking to him about it. Do not berate or criticize him overtly for over-eating, but encourage him to eat smaller portions.

That is a tricky situation. Perhaps you should consult your families doctor and tell him your concerns. Over eating is an extremely serious issue and can give rise to no end of health problems.
