Yes, partially because it is NOT a fact - it is only one's faith that it is fact. I think it also has lost meaning because people are questioning the bible out in the open a lot more than ever and people are seeing the contradictions, perceptions and how people will or won't pattern their lives with it. This does not mean that "the devil came in and corrupted people's minds..." The bible itself holds many contradictions and THAT is what has created this. It is not the devil, as these brainwashed people are taught.

What do you mean by lost meaning? Maybe it's lost meaning in your life. I don't know if you were raised in a christain household. But there are two categories of christian homes that I think can ruin the truth and passion behind christianity in households.
First, there are many "christain" families who don't embrace it as a lifestyle but just as a religion to claim so they look as if they have their religious beliefs together. They do nothing outside of church and a couple paryers here and there to focus their whole life on Jesus and everything christianity says to be true.
On the other hand, many kids raised in "christain" homes find that they have had fundamental christianity shoved down their throat their whole life and they've just had enough of it by the time they're old enough to make their own philisophical/religious beliefs. All types of christian families have always been around, including the two I talked about above. Maybe in America today religious beliefs have become more dispersed and less christian oriented, but there are millions upon millions of people all around the world who center their whole life and existence around Jesus and christianity.
To say it's lost it's meaning would be like saying there is no good music today... period. Although there is A LOT of crap on the radio there still is alot of really good music out there as well. Music has just branched out into an countless amount of categorizations- so of course you're gonna get a lot of bands putting out pointless crappy songs. Just because all someone chooses to listen to is what they are sold on the radio doesn't mean there aren't a lot of good bands and musicians out there still makin good music.

You do have a kind of semi-point. Christianity, like many other religions, is trying to find solid grounding for its beliefs in Jesus and the things He did (or supposedly did). This is all an attempt to get rid of the 'Why do you believe in God when there's no proof?' and 'How do you know Jesus wasn't just an early magician?' kind of questions. As for whether it has lost meaning, I don't think so. There is still no way you can prove God exists so there is still an element of faith required. Without faith, religion is meaningless.
