Trendafil said it - all connected. It's a throughway as unless you're a mouthbreather air gets to your lungs via the nose (where it is filtered and warmed) so whenever you have a nosebleed some blood will probably go to the back where it ends up in your throat - reason why advice is always to lean forward and pinch below the bridge of the nose. Also one reason why you put an unconscious person on their side as opposed to lying on their back, as well as to open their airway. The End.
