My fiancee and I are deciding on where to go for our honeymoon. We won a contest and the prize was a 2 night 3 day trip to either Cancun, Mexico or Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Both of us had never been to either place and would like to get your opinion about those two cities and whether you would recommend either one for a honeymoon. We really want our honeymoon to be special and would appreciate any help. Thanks

I think the beaches in Cancun are nicer. As for which one is better overall, I think a lot would depend on the resort.
Hopefully you can find both resorts on the sites below and read what people who have stayed there had to say about them.

It relies upon on once you bypass. except you will an adults purely motel then its superb fortune of the draw. except its spring destroy of direction. the two places have there pluses and minuses. Cancun- extraordinary night life.. you would be wanting a large time if nightlife is what your searching for. factors of Cancuns seashores are destroyed simply by fact of hurricane Wilma.. which places a damper on issues. yet night life is definately there. Puerto Plata - while you're a white sand sea coast kinda individual like myself.. you will unlike P.P. specific it has extra nightlife than the different place in Dominican simply by fact Dominican usually you won't be in a position to go away the hotels simply by fact of protection. Mexico you have not got this problem. What approximately staying in Playacar? in the Mayan Riviera.. Playa Del Carmen has large night life.. yet isn't the "Las Vegas" that Cancun brings... plus lots of the hotels there are marvelous.. appealing seashores.!! And if all else fails.. Cancun is 40 minutes away. stable good fortune!

I have been to both. I think Cancun Mexico has great beaches, restaurants, and many things to see and do. I hope you will add some more days to the trip you won. 2 nights is not enough in either country.

For sure Cancun and the area south of the city. It is very safe , the peope are very friendly and you will have lots to do - IF you have time :0)
Actually, be sure to make sometime to see a pyramid at least!! The best closest to Cancun is Coba. Forget Talum - too touristy. You could take one of the days and do Coba and Xel Hai and swim with the fish.
