I cut my finger over a month ago and the cut seemed to heal but it still hurt. There was a little scab and I picked it and then squeezed it and green pus came out. Is it infected inside? should I goto a doc and have it lanced? Not sure what to do..as I hate doctors and would rather not have to go....

Just so everyone knows.. it is very small and there is no red around the cut. The cut is pretty much healed over.. but seems to fill up as it kind of swells up over time. I am going to call the doc. though as you scared the tar out of me! (I do not want it cut off) Thanks for all the excellent answers!

u don't need your finger cut off... :P it is probably infected, apply neosporin to it, after you wash it thoroughly with antibacterial soap(sorry I know it hurts), then put a band-aid on it to keep germs from getting in it... if symptoms persist see a doctor, another thing that would help is hydrogen peroxide, it bubbles and disinfects cuts and scrapes. Another thing DON'T PICK IT!

U waited long enough for it to heal. If it is infected--& YES IT IS, if u have green pus, u need to go to Dr. right away. Call now, make appt, nurse will tell u how serious. U probably need an anibiotic. RULE OF THUMB: GREEN puss is NOT Good!

if the cut is still open, try soaking it in epsom salt and very warm water 2-3 times a day. keep it covered with a bandaid and antibiotic ointment. if it isn't better in a few days, or you see a red streak running from the cut toward your heart- go to a doctor asap. blood poisoning could result. but i'd quess the epsom salt will fix you right up.

Green pus is a sign of infection. I would go to the Dr, but then again, I am no Dr. If you have a primary care physician I would at least call and ask his or her nurse about it.

Green colored puss is a sign of a serious infection under the scab. You need to have it looked at ASAP and maybe some antibiotics. Any puss indicates an infection brewing, when it turns colors its gotten pretty bad.

is the area around the cut reddish and spreading? does the pus smell... also if the area is raised and when you press it has a bubbly or foam like secretion go immediately to the doctor... you may have gangrene and can be treated ...don't hate the doctors...you will hate yourself if they have to cut it off because of your phobia

It's infected. Is it a big cut or a little one? If it's big, go to a doctor. If not, clean it out and use some anti-bacterial ointment on it.
