Someone told me this recently, "The 7 countries that Bin Laden wants to turn Islamic are all countries with large atheist populations. You're the ones that Muslim extremists target, not the religious people."

This is ridiculous.

Could someone give me the accurate information of what countries (and what theism/atheism populations they are) that Bin Laden is targeting, please? Thank-you.

Well, he's dead now.

Did he do any such thing in the past?

That's not true. If Bin Laden targeted atheists, he'd be an atheist himself within days.

Bin Laden wants to stamp out liberty and freedom. It just so happens that the countries that he's targeting have the largest Atheistic populations because those countries give people the right to be Atheists.

Bin Laden is an extremist Muslim. Extremist Muslims typically believe that the US is immoral, and that we are not following God. To term the countries that are being targeted as atheistic......hmm, I don't think so. It is true that the war is defined as a holy war, but this because our beliefs do not align with theirs, so we are therefore wrong, immoral and corrupt.

Well if that's the case, Bin Laden shouldn't be targeting the US, as most of the population holds some sort of religious belief. Yet, since he is, he must have other reasons for his jihad.

Yes, it is ridiculous. It has little to do with religion or atheism IMO. It is a war that sees the "West" as the "Great Satan". Not because of any specific religious or anti-religious belief, but simply because our lifestyle is different than theirs. It is the very purest form of bigotry.

(PS We in the West are on the same team when it comes to Bin Laden...at least we should be.)

It has been the better half of a decade since any terrorist action on US soil.

And why did we kill Saddam, but completely forget about Bin Laden?
