I have had this problem with my car and they fixed the problem for free. Where your window just drops down and will not go back up. They are now trying to charge my brother for this problem.

not sure of your exact model...i don't see any recalls here.. I own a VW, and i've read somewhere that there was a recall for regulator clips but if i remember correctly they don't want to change them for free now.

here is another website you would want to check about this issue..

these dudes say there is a 7 year waranty on the clips.
" I phoned the toll free number for VWoC: 1-800-822-8987. Found out there was a 7 yr warranty to replace the broken clips free of charge."

I don't think there is a recall, but it is a problem that the jettas have from 2000 on. They probably fixed yours for free because it was under warranty. If your brother's is a 2000, then the warranty is probably expired and thats why they want to charge him for it. You were pretty lucky that yours happened under warranty, most of the time it happens afterwards.

THERE IS NO RECALL. there is a new improve parts to solve all Jetta window problem. too bad they don:t admit that it was a bad design.. send your complaint to Volkswagen corporation. maybe they will offer free extended warranty

they extended the warranty on these regulator cable and clamps kits to 7 yrs/100k miles. it goes by the original in service date, so some of these 2000 models are beyond the 7 year thing.
