I know they say that low impact aerobics are best for people with fibromyaliga, but I could really do with toning my thigh, hips, arms, and I would love to try and tighten my stomach. I'm afraid to try light weight lifting and pilates cos of the strain those two activities put on the muscles. am I wrong to be afraid of this, and should I try it anyway? or am I right in being afraid that it will produce more pain than good? or is there something else I can do?

You're not wrong to be afraid. Maybe start with swimming or really, really light weights or just push ups, sit ups, squats, etc, and no weights You will be in pain and get lots of sleep so your body can recover. But maybe if you start really slow and work your way up, you won't be too bad. I'm in the same boat being in chronic pain. I have to tone my muscles or else they will just get smaller or get injured easily. I have to be honest with you, I started a few days ago and my whole body feels like its been run over by a truck and I have not even got to the weights yet. I'm still just doing push ups, sit ups, squats, etc. I have given up in the past, but this time I need to build muscle. I know the pain won't go away, I've had this for too long. The only thing that makes the pain go away is to do nothing and I'm tired of doing nothing. Good luck.
