Is there a problem with a combed down afro? I combed my afro down once because I got tired of seeing the same styles and so I can try something new. My mom doesn't like it because she doesn't like guys with long hair and my grandma is just afraid of what people might say to her about me. I'm not afraid of criticism, but I just can't stand it when my mom talks about it too much. One of my friends, whose black too, has his hair laid down and he didn't care about. Mine was the same thing! Right now I have dreads and I was thinking about changing it back the way I had it and ignore everyone.
My mom is also freaking out because she doesn't know what will my hair be like in graduation pictures.

The combed down fro is nice.
For the most part you gotta do your thing, do what makes you happy n all.
But here's my only reccomendation...
For those graduation pics, do what mama wants.
For you, changing these hairstyles is nothing big, its just something to do, to have something different.
For your mother - she's the person thats been waiting your whole life to see you graduating and those pictures will be her reminder, forever.
You ain't gotta worry about impressin' no one else and all that, cuz none of these other people are gonna be around 20 years from now, but your mama will be.

Just get your fro cut down low and shaped real nice. Or get your hair braided in a nice design. For your graduation pictures you will ask yourself why did I do my hair like that? Go ahead and change your look. Make your mama proud.
