I'm nearly 40 and I keep attracting 20 somethings! I don't dress all sexy and I'm certainly not flirty. I go everywhere alone and keep to myself, pretty much, and yet the last 4 guys who've shown interest could almost be my child! I'm not OK with that! It could never last. They are in a place to start a family and settle down, I've done that already and have no interest in starting over. Granted it is a little flattering but also not!!! It's kinda creepy! Do all men really just want to grow up and marry someone that reminds them of thier mother? EEEWWWWWWW!!! Anyway, I keep being told, by the guys, that this unwillingness to date younger men is a "problem" and that I need to get over it. What do you think? Am I nuts? Or is it inapropriate for a 40 year old woman to date a 23 year old man?

I don't think there is anything wrong with dating somebody younger, but it's not, as you state, "a "problem" and that I need to get over it." I think these guys are thinking they are Ashton Kutcher and you are Demi Moore. I personally would not date anyone less then 10 years younger.

Get this straight, younger guys just want to screw you for a few days / weeks and then move on, so dont even think of dating. If you are happy with having a physical thing then go ahead but dont expect it to last. Playing devils advocate I would say:
If you are attracting these guys it may be non-verbal communication, you unwittingly give off clues that you would be open to an approach by these kind of guys.
Lastly, why are thses guys going after a woman twice their age, cant they get a younger woman?

well thats the trend nowadays age doesnt matter anymore,young men nowadays tend to like older woman because of the experience factor when comes to intimacy and women at there 40s are much more attractive and more sophisticated than women in there 20s thats the reason why they are much more of an attraction to young men,so if i were you just follow the flow,theres nothing bad about it just make sure you dont pick a boy in diapers

if you are attracted to them, and really have alot in common then it's ok and age doesn't matter, but if you can't sit and talk to them as another person and the diffences are pronounced then i wouldn't do it.
i believe age doesn't matter, but when you can talk about something that was a big point in your life, or talk about a band, like say duran duran, and they have no idea, or say "my mom told me about that" then there is really nothing there.
if you aren't comfortable then don't do it and thier own insecurities by saying it is your "problem" just goes to show the differences in an even brighter light.

It might be wierd but if it was a good guy why not go for it. But if its not something you want than you can't change your feelings. Go with what you want and you will not be disapointed. You are never inappropriate for voicing your opinion on things that affect you. No one can tell you how to feel you know what you want so go for it
