I take Zanac 75, or 150 if it's really bad. It works like a charm. In about half an hour, you'll be fine. Zantac is available over the counter, without a prescription. I take Tums sometimse, too, but they aren't as effective.

I use Rolaid soft chews, wild cherry flavor. They taste almost like a peice of gum and are soft and chewy like gum only it doesn't stay like that like gum does it is easily swallowed. So really it is not like taking medication for anything. They also work immediatly and I have never had to have eaten more then two to get rid of heartburn. And I get it really fast really bad sometimes.
So go and buy a pack of Rolaid Soft Chews wild Cherry flavor.
Good Luck
