They can work. My parents were in a long distance relationship early in there relationship, they didn't see each other for 8 months, after dating for 4 years they tied the knot. My pastor at my church was in a long distance relationship with his wife for two years while they were both in college about 8 hours away from each other, they ended up getting married a few months after they graduated. It can work, but it takes a lot of trust, it is hard being away from the person you care about. Long distance relationships take a lot of work too, you have to be willing to make the effort. Is this person worth the effort? Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Only if both of you are committed. Period.

To be honest, I would stay away from them. I had my own experience, and it did not work. I was committed, she was too, but she ended not wanting to come with me later on (was our original plan). I had a good job, house, etc. She had nothing. Only sacrifice was to leave her family (just to move away, she could visit anytime anyways). I was also away from home, so it would have been the same for both.

To make it short, she left me, didn’t work, ended cheating (I found out later) and now she is miserable with nobody and with a low pay job. I’m happy, married now, and both of us making good $$$$.

If you must be in a long distance relation, you must make sure you both know what you want, agree on it, and stay committed. And visiting is a must. Otherwise nature takes over and you will start looking for someone else soon. And lets not mention the depression of being alone. Is not easy.

Stay away from it.

Almost never. But you still need to decide for yourself.

Every relationship has something against it. And let's face it most people muck up the relationships they have face to face. Perhaps the distance will help keep purity in the relationship and by knowing each other better before getting entangled you would have a better relationship.

Oh wait. That's kinda what God said in Scripture isn't it? Get to know each other. Make a lifetime commitment. Then and only then will the best physical relationships take place.

I was in one for five months and we were both really happy and trusted each other. We saw each other like 3 or 4 times he lived 3 hours away from me! The only reason it didn't work was because before we got together he got a girl preagnant and when the baby was born he decided to be a mature adult and take care of his kid and me a dad to him and a husband to the mom so they could have a family for the kid. It works but not for like years i was gonna move there in like a year so we were looking foward to that you have to at least try to get around each other because then you have something to work towards

You can make anything work if you really want it to.

My sister started dating a guy in highschool and after one year, he and his family moved to Sweden (where they are originally from). My sister and her boyfriend made their intercontinental relationship work for over 8 years before he moved back to the U.S.

Now they live together and are on the cusp of getting engaged.

They used to see each other maybe 4 times a year, but they made it work.

I'm currently seeing a girl who lives on the opposite coast from me. I fly out to see her for a long weekend once a month and we're making it work.

Long story short... if the person is worth it... you can make it happen. You just have to be dedicated and you have to trust each other.

Good Luck

The survival of long distance relationships depend on the effort both parties are willing to give to the relationship. With the new technological advances, keeping in touch is as easy as 1-2-3. They must just remember to make every conversation worthwhile. (- -,)

I think that depends on the couple. If you r in love and there is no way that u even look at another person n trust each other as well as both communicate n see each other on a regular basis like on special occasions and try your hardest to make time to see each other then it can work.It is difficult for those who make it that way.

not very good. me west coast,g-friend east coast. seen her 2 times last year. slowly growing apart. a person gets lonely between contacts. you dont really get lonely for some one. you get lonely for your best friend. missing them so much you feel sorrow. the growing apart comes from something inside where you dont want to contact each other because there is too much hurt between meetings.still have e- mail some times. still think about her. we have a hard time trying to make new friends. because we feel like we are cheating on each ther.wish i never met her, lonely now.

I think all relationships need trust to work especially if they are long distance. if you really love a person then go for it and dont let anything else get in your way
