I tried that once. And all the atheists reported me to Yahoo! for abuse. So, now I pray for them, I just don't tell them.

Depends on the circumstance. Prayer is specifics... I pray for countries at war with dictators in charge. The dictator may not want it but the people dying may. I pray the people that are lost would be saved.
But if someone tells me, don't pray for me I don't want it or need it. I am not sure that it does any good. We all have free will and it is truly up to each person to accept a specific prayer..
the scripture to back this...lay hands quickly on no one.

If your trying to pray for someone, and they don't want your help,
you should still pray for them, because nobody on earth is perfect, in the way they don't need prayer. Everyone in some way, needs prayer.

As a Wiccan I would like to put my $.02 in. I don't do spells (prayers) for those that do not want them. I will offer my advice, help, or magick to those in need that would need it thou, so long as it would harm none.

I've often wondered if theists request prayer in church for people they encounter on the internet, and if so, how that goes...
