It is certainly difficult for some since they (being both sides) see any form of questioning as a deliberate attack on what they believe.

If one is sincere in their faith and understands the viewpoint of the other person, you can have very fruitful discussions on the topic of religion.

However, many word questions in very piercing ways, intended to pick a fight rather than discuss the topic intelligently. This happens on both sides. Just because you are dicussing something pertaining to your faith does not mean that you are being forced to convert. Conversion does not come through force (as is permissible in some religions), but rather, being presented with the truth, one realizes that it is indeed the truth and changes their mind accordingly.

It is difficult to discuss religion without getting emotional because the discussion revolves around the core thoughts on which you base your life's decisions. For a Christian it is the believe that they are saved from their sins through the death and resurection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

For a Muslim it is the promise of paradise if they live a life worthy.

To an atheist it is the belief that they can live their life free from any responsibility to a higher power.

These are all very core issues for people. When these ideas are attacked you are attacking who they are. Then comes the name calling, the lashing out, the crusades and then the bombings.

You thinking of starting something Sho-Nuff?

i'm incredibly open to different faiths and such. The comments and discussions over faith fascinate me, yet the two human beings ought to make an contract to no longer attack the different's faiths. You did no longer point out what faith you have been. in case you fall decrease than a Polytheistic sort, nicely, it relatively is frequently nicely off and the two human beings can purely know one yet another's gods and bypass away or no longer that's. no count number if it relatively is purely different denominations, word the form you worship the comparable God and persist with lots of the comparable paths. often denominational arguments are purely misunderstandings no count number if it relatively is fairly different faiths (ex: Judaism & Christianity), you need to purely look for what you do in worry-unfastened. What are you worry-unfastened ideals you proportion? What targets and desires do the two sell? in spite of everything, in case you do it like this, the youngster would desire to relatively be raised in an open minded view of the two faiths.

Not at all. Of course I have it easy as I do not identify with any religion...so it does not feel like a personal attack to discuss religions.

I find it less difficult by not being honest. Honesty seems to cause problems with their views.

Well it isn't a big thing to me at all, so I don't. I have a big habit of pissing off the religious however. They don't like it when I think they are being funny.

No one has to agree with anyones' views, but why is name calling necessary?

Idiot, moron, lame-***, filthy hypocrite are always nice ones-oh, and those that ask you to kill yourself are truly appreciated.

I can remain neutral, but I don't like AnyOne being called a name, regardless of their beliefs.

It should not be ....but it is for many.
Jesus is our example.
Usually he felt pity, not anger (or any other violent emotion).
