i want to get rid of my old cat because i just got 2 new kittens. I was thinking of just letting it go in the woods near my house, maby i will put it to sleep. I also heard that if you neglect it for long enough when you put it outside for long enough it will just leave......that is most likely what i will do...............any suggestions please tell me!!!!!!!!!!

It's not a car, or the elderly, its a pet you take on the responsibilty of being the owner and thats not for just the portion of its life that you want it's for the entire life of it. But you could bring it to the humanes society but if you do make sure and bring the kittens too because I doubt you will be giving them a good life.

What's wrong with keeping all three cats? It's cruel to put it to sleep, or to put it outside. Take it to an animal shelter and let them find a new home for your poor cat- a home that will actually love it.

It makes me think whether or not you should keep the kittens- maybe you should take them all to a shelter if you're just going to end up getting rid of the kittens when they get older.

Why would you do that? You don't have enough love in your heart for all of them. If you're concerned about them not getting along, seperate them and feed them seperately. Cats are very jealous and territorial and the older cat may feel like it is being replaced. Usually female cats, although distrubed by new kittens, will usually become mother-like towards them. Male cats may try to hurt the kittens. Give the older one extra attention. How would you like it if when you get old someone puts you out and leaves you to die. We are talking about a life here!

Oh you were just kidding! Whew!!

Don't just let your cat go. That's cruel. You should try to find it a new home. Ask around, someone you know might love to have a new cat. Or you could advertise in the paper that you have a 'free cat to a good home'.
Besides there's nothing wrong with having two kittens AND another cat. As long as you take care of them, they should get along fine.

I'd like to take the kittens away from you now! What the hell kind of person are you anyway?!? I can't believe your plan is to neglect an old animal or let it go in the woods! You should be reported!!

How about giving it to someone who has a heart?

You don't need the 2 new kittens, If you plan on neglecting the old cat. Take responsiblity and keep and take care of the first one.

What a horrible way to think of doing to your old cat...Please re home the cat if nothing else, how would you like someone to throw you out because you were old! The cat depends on you. If you don't want it just because it's old, give it to someone that will re home him. Place an ad explaining he's old and would like him to be re homed. Someone will likely rescue him from you. You can place a free ad at www.petfinder.com in your area. Select your area so it will be closer for people to come by and get the cat... Please at least do that. Thanks.

Don't neglect it that woudn't be a nice thing to do. Donate your cat to the animal shelter. they'll know what to do, than putting it to sleep. You could get arrested for animal neglect, so just take it to the shelter.

You're getting rid of a faithful cat that has been your companion because something new and better has come along?
You s u c k!
Keep in mind that you too will age...
At least be humane and take it to a no kill shelter, or at least the aspca.
