You can hide, or wait and see what happens, but I recommend talking to your landlord. See if he'll accept a reduced amount, and/or take payments over a specified period. Keep in mind that it will cost him a lot to hire someone else to collect from you.

A lot of people figure their credit is ruined anyway, so why bother paying? But if your landlord gets a judgement against you, he can garnish your wages, attach bank accounts, etc. I think it's best to work something out, but then, I'm a landlord.

Credit Reporting Agencies have several identifiers, one is the address. If any of your creditors have your address is will be reported. The landlord can send it to the bureaus and they will cross reference it by dob, ssn and address.

The landlord doesn't need your soc, as long as they have the correct spelling oif your name. It also depends if he runs a business renting property or he does it himself. You can contest the motion anyway.
