In real life, no, Jesus and Mary Magdalene were not married, and thus had no children. This is no dirty little secret. If Mary was considered such a vile person, why does the Church have her as a saint (St. Mary Magdalene)? Would it make sense to elevate a person to sainthood that is supposed to be an enemy of the Church?

In the book and the movie she was the wife of Jesus and the mother of their child. In reality, the Church will never admit it to be true because then Jesus would be seen as a man and not a deity which, in my opinion, is a shame because this makes it harder for many to relate to him.

I just saw this again last night. The movie claimed that she was the wife of Jesus and they did have children. The whole thing is that this was covered up be the ancients as they didn't want a women to be seen in a "power" posistion. They were afraid it would taint the religion and people would turn away.
It is an interesting theory though...???
