It is not a topic that people of my age talk about. firstly we did not have toilet paper but used newspaper,which used to clog the toilet pan and had to be poked down with a stick,you could of course buy toilet paper which was rather coarse but that cost money. I do not know whether there was toilet paper in Public toilets for once again it cost to go in one. In hospitals they used a kind of cotton called "Tow". Happy days.

you don't go by age as far as making paper is concerned you go by usable weight and type of tree.
I'm guessing that is what your asking.
