I wouldn't automatically tip for movers/deliveries. It really depends on how much I've paid already to have the item moved/delivered.
We tipped our dishwasher delivery guys a 20 - they were nice and took care to install the item carefully, without any scratches.
It's hard to know how much and when to tip. It's awkward if someone hints that they should be tipped.
I usually try to ask ahead of time - someone who isn't the person who would get the tip. That doesn't always work, but it's helped me out in the past.

I wouldn't tip a furniture mover. Pizza delivery drivers and servers get paid below minimum wage, usually anywhere from $2.15/hr-$5.00/hr. Tipping is where they make the money to balance their wage out. Furniture movers, I'm assuming, make at LEAST minimum wage, so tipping isn't necessary.
It's expected that you do your job properly. Accountants don't get tips for doing your taxes correctly because it's their job. They SHOULD do it properly, and they will receive compensation from their company. Movers get paid to move furniture and not break anything. If people appreciate your service and want to give you a little something extra, then good for you, but don't push it.

I didn't tip my mover, mostly because I understood the contract to have the gratuity built in. Also, because they screwed up the delivery dates, my furniture was lost for 3 days, and my husband had to help him unload the enormous semi that blocked traffic all day. The truck was only that big because my stuff was put on with other peoples'.
If the service would've been better, I would have tipped.

I'm already paying for the job and I do not feel as though I should tip you. You earn a salary or wage for what you do.
Drop a hint for a tip to me and you are going to get nothing but an ear full!

I always wonder if I am supposed to tip the boy who walks the groceries out to my car at the grocery store. I don't because I know that some jobs people are not supposed to accept tips. I always think I should, and kind of would like to. How much would be appropriate? Maybe people don't tip movers such as yourself, because they don't know they can and don't know how much would be appropriate. You, however, should never drop hints!

I do tip, but I am in the service industry. And no, I don't ever want to "drop an hint". I just have learned that some people don't know the etiquette of gratuity.

I tip movers. It is very hard work and they place the furniture where I ask them to.

It turns us off... Furniture moving like you said isn't something we associate with tipping. If you dropped a hint I would report you to your manager.

just stay on the northeast coast where people realize that you tip people for services. i live in fla and asked my barber how many people tip and its not that many even for a haircut here. i have had to convince many floridians if you don't have enough money to tip you don't order a pizza or go out to eat. on the west coast they would just try to figure out how to replace you with illegals and then blame it on liberals.
