There's sensitivity in any group, some have a thicker skin than others, so I don't think it's Muslims in general but certain groups. I'm Catholic and offend actually quite easily, but I also am tired of hearing anti-Catholic jokes and anti-Catholic rhetoric. Other Catholic friends of mine are quite tolerant of it.
I think there is a cultural difference between countries and regions, though. If you noticed during the cartoon scandal (which was unfair because it was meant to inflame and incense) there were no riots in America in part because criticism of any organization is a part of our culture. I may not like David Hunt's books, and in fact I think he's a bigot and a moron, but he has the right to say his piece. Take another nation where freedom of speech is substantially more limited, and you'll have a more violent response.
Then you have the extremists. For whatever reason, the institutions comprising Christianity have relegated the extremist positions to irrelevance for the most part, those revilers from Westboro Baptist in Topeka not withstanding. There are multiple reasons for this, not the least of which is the presence of strong democratic institutions and a culture that accepts differences in opinion. I have to think that those people oppressed by dictatorships and tyrannical monarchs would react differently in a republic or representative democracy that respected human rights to a more substantial extent.
Peace to the Muslims.

Well you have to discern the muslims who are non-violent against the ones that are... The ones that are seem to be very radical and take it to another level, the ones that are peaceful are not so sensitive, although there are ones that are peaceful that are. It just depends on the muslim. The extremists over in the middle-east have been born and bred into the killing and terrorism in the name of Allah. I think we all should just use our good judgment on these types of people, no matter what the religion. I am Christian, but I believe there are some radical and extreme Christians out there... (Look at David Koresh, Waco, Texas, early 90's...) I know there are lots of people in each religion who become enraged at all the criticism, perhaps because they don't know how to let it "Roll off of their back" or let it go in one ear and out of the other. I hope this helps. You did raise a very interesting question. God Bless.

Actually yes, there is a postulated inferiority complex because they have been stagnant for such a long time with no real cultural or technological development (all their modern stuff comes from us). It is an affront to their god that the "infidels" turn everything to gold and create all these wonders while they, their god's "chosen people", are left behind with no advancements of their own. The inferiority complex does play a huge part both in their sensitivity and their capacity for violence and terrorism.
Christians have "evolved" to be more compatible with society, but back in the 1400s they would have launched a long, bloody crusade against any nation that slandered or mocked their god. The muslim culture has remained relatively unchanged, so they are virtually the same as they were in the 1400s and what the christians would do back then, they're still doing today.
Again, the fact that they haven't much advanced, evolved or progressed is a critical issue.

Just because some people that are Muslim do things like this doesn't mean that all Muslims are bad. And that cartoon is their prophet which christians and jews believe in too. How would very religious people feel if some @ss athiest dude journalist made something offensive of Jesus? If they had the ignorance to make fun of Jesus. Well that journalist had made fun of their religion. I wouldn't interfere with jew, muslim or christian beliefs. The Quaran, Torah or Bible how would you feel? There are probably Muslims reading this right now angry at you at your ignorance. Why can't we all get along and let people believe in what they believe.

You are speaking of a few radical muslims and of course, those who are not would be offended in one way or another. Their religion isn't as much at fault as is the people involved in terrorist activities. Same with Christianity. Many claim one thing in the name of God, do harm to others, even though it is not what the bible teaches. The world doesn't care, They will then look at that as something Christianity is. You say you know that not every Muslim is like that, but your question doesn't reflect that. And also, are we not all defensive when we are being made fun of, riduculed etc.? It is a natural human response.

To be sure Muslims are sometimes intensely sensitive but Christians have been as well in the past. You must remember Islam is at the stage Christianity was about 600 years ago so they're still growing up so to speak. Also, although you are correct that Christians don't riot, they do still have sensitivity to criticism as well, the only difference is, Christians tend to lash out through radio talk shows, boycotts and protests via FOX (Faux) news.

well the beheading, those were radicals obviously. and sensitive, maybe because they are tired. there are some out there who destroy the name of islam. now, people mock and make fun of islam whenever they have a chance. and the cartoons made fun of the prophet muhammed. he is supposed to be God's greatest creation and their main prophet.

Muslims don't do this - extremists do. You should start with the facts. Christians also protest, and bomb abortion clinics...why? Because of all of the hatred.

I'm only sensitive towards ignorant people who accuse me of being a terrorist. Anyone who honestly wishes to garner information, feel free to ask, but don't attack my religious beliefs and I won't attack your.
