here is how i like to do it....
One 12- to 14-pound fresh ham, bone in and skin on
1 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley leaves
12 fresh sage leaves, chopped
6 large cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup whole-grain mustard
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 large Spanish onions, trimmed and cut into 1-inch wedges
1 gallon apple cider
Rinse the ham and pat dry. To score the ham, use a serrated knife to make parallel cuts about an inch apart, across and through the skin into the fat. Cut diagonally across these first cuts to make a diamond pattern.
In a food processor combine the parsley, sage, garlic, mustard, red pepper, salt, and pepper. Add 1/4 cup of the oil and pulse to a make a coarse paste. Rub the paste all over the ham, pressing it into the cuts. Cover the ham with plastic wrap, put on a pan, and refrigerate overnight.
Remove ham from the refrigerator about 1 1/2 hours before cooking so the meat can come to room temperature. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
In a large roasting pan toss the onion wedges with the remaining oil. Place the ham on top of the onions and add 1 cup of the cider. Roast the meat for 30 minutes, reduce the oven temperature 300 degrees F. Cook the ham until an instant read thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 150 degrees F. A 13-pound ham will take about 4 to 4 1/2 hours, about 20 minutes per pound.
Meanwhile in a large saucepan bring the cider to a boil. Reduce the heat to a brisk simmer and cook the cider until syrupy and about 1 1/2 cups. Skim off any foam that comes to the surface as the cider reduces. During the last 1 1/2 hours of cooking the ham, brush the reduced cider over the roast every 30 minutes to glaze the skin.
Let the cooked ham rest, loosely covered with foil, at room temperature for 30 minutes before carving. Reserve the onions and pan juices, skimming off any excess fat. Carve the ham and serve with the onion and pan juices.

Take a whole ham out of plastic and place in deep dish
Buy whole cloves and in a row of an inch apart down the whole ham place cloves in a row
On top of that put rings of 8 pinapples pour liquid brown sugar over the whole ham, next and this is so true get a half a gallon of orange juice and pour over the top
next add "cocktail cheeries" inside the pinapples and foil the ham
Bake at 350 degrees
Every 20 minutes take the juice and coat the top of the Ham
Depending on how big your ham is you should bast it 20 minutes and cook it per pound @ this temp EVEYONE will think you are a gourmet cook! GODBLESS!

HOW TO COOK A HAM
1. Soak ham overnight.
2. Scrub ham well.
3. Add 1 quart of cold water and bring to a boil at 500 degrees for 30 minutes (in oven).
4. Turn oven off for three hours.
5. Turn oven to 500 degrees and cook for 30 minutes more.
6. Turn oven off and leave ham stand overnight or until cool.
Note: Ham is done! "Decorate as you see fit."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
How To Heat a Fully Cooked Ham
Here's How:
First, check the label for instructions. It should be labeled 'fully cooked' or 'cook before eating.'
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
If the ham is labeled 'fully cooked' (does not require heating), heat for 8 to 10 minutes per pound, or to an internal temperature of 140°F.
If the ham is labeled 'cook before eating,' heat to an internal temperature of 160°F.
Tips:
Before glazing a ham, remove all but about 1/4-inch of the fat.
For a tasty, caramelized coating, sprinkle the fat of the ham with brown sugar which has been pressed through a sieve.

Luckily when you buy ham from the grocer, it is already cooked. All you need to do is heat it throughly.
A good rule of thumb is 15-20 minutes per pound at 350 in the over, uncovered.
If you want to add a little something extra, glaze it first. You can make a delicious glaze very easily.
Take either honey or maple syrup
For tang you can add mustard or ground gloves
Adding brown sugar will give it a beautiful color.
Pineapples are also a good addition to ham!

I put it in a shallow pan, I pour a can of crushed pineapple over it and sprinkle it with brown sugar. Cover with foil and cook in oven at 350F for 1-2 hours (under 4 lbs), depending on the size.

Score it and put it in a baking dish. Scoring is cutting lines across the top in a checkerboard pattern. Rub brown sugar on it and take toothpicks and put pineapple rings on top. Pour the pineapple juice over the top and then put it in the oven uncovered at 350 for about 30-40 minutes.
Bon Apetite!
