Modern subwoofers are all at least half as deep as they are wide unless you get slim versions. Pioneer, JL Audio, and Kicker all make slim subs.

There is a little trick we "old school" folks used to use to gain an additional 3/4" of mounting depth. Basically build a regular truck stlye box, but with no rear panel. Then we would mount the box to the rear of the cab. Using the rear of the cab as the rear panel of the box. Make the cab wall smooth using body filler or "putty-like" dampening material and put additional putty on the wall to add stability. This method should allow you to use a sub with about 5-5.5" of mounting depth.

i would get the "slim ones" from Pioneer Premier. there 4" thick, and sound like a normal sub. its really amazing. you almost cant see them move, and your getting really good bass. there inexpensive and are made in a 10" size. i'd really check them out. i know you want a big woofer, but this sub will give you big woofer sound, without taking up big woofer room. its really the best of both worlds.

good luck.
