Are you doing anything special? This year, instead of giving something up, my family is doing something for the Lord. I'm praying an extra rosary each night.

What are you doing?

And if you are NOT celebrating Lent, please, do not answer.

Guys, I am serious. If you are NOT celebrating Lent and are only answering to be "funny" I will report you. Have the maturity to not answer a question not directed at you.

I'm going to give up all forms of sweets (candy, chocolate, etc...) as well as carbonated drinks. It's going to be pretty damn hard, but I figure I can make it.

As usual, I'm down to the wire on deciding what to do for Lent. Considering that tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, I hope I get some inspiration soon. Maybe someone here will be able to suggest something.

If not, I'm thinking about fining myself a quarter each time that I indulge in sarcasm and then at the end of Lent, donating the money to Operation: Rice Bowl or another charity. If I stick around R&S long enough, that ought to make for a nice sum!

Whatever true Christians do, it will NO be observing Lent. Coming from the Anglo-Saxon Lencten, meaning “spring,” Lent originated in the ancient Babylonian mystery religion. “The forty days’ abstinence of Lent was directly borrowed from the worshippers of the Babylonian goddess…Among the Pagans this Lent seems to have been an indispensable preliminary to the great annual festival in commemoration of the death and resurrection of Tammuz” (The Two Babylons).

True Christians avoid everything that has roots in false religion.

Yo sister Steph- have you tried Virtual Rosary on line- its really beautiful! Have not yet decided what to do as a family, but we do have the jar out for monetary donations for swearing or other offenses which will be donated to a charitable cause.
I agree about obedience, not easy, but maybe that's a great Lenten project/area.
