Cypress is a very durable wood. As long as you refinish the wood first to remove any defects from aging. If you want the deck to last for a very long time, here is what I suggest. After sanding, take a sanding sealer and treat the side of the wood that will be on the down side. Water proof as well. Otherwise, if you treat after installation the downside won't get covered good enough. I use to do carpentry of all types before I got into truck driving.
Most often wood decay starts from the underneath, so you want it to be adequately protected. Just remember to use a sanding sealer before you use the water sealer.

it should make a wonderul deck, just be certain to sand and seal the deck very well to protect it from your climate extremes. I wish we had Cyprus Wood out here in NM...

I don't see why not. Just inspect the boards well and make sure they have no slits or cracks that could cause them to break out. If unsure you can always put a number of extra supports under them to make sure.
