There is way too much evidence to support evolution, and no evidence for any other methods. However, if a christian came to me and said that evolution was all a pert of their gods plan, then I could easily accept that as their own point of view, and wouldn't have any problems with it at all.
I do have a problem with those who tend to shout that god did it and created everything in only a few thousand years. That is quite simply pure BS. They then have the audacity to think that it should be compulsory for people to learn their fairy tale as if it was science. That is simply lying to children in the hope of brainwashing them.
Atheism. You know it makes sense.

Those who study evolution closely considered the possibility that everything is purely due to chance. The fundamental structure in statistics is the "null hypothesis" where you ask what are the chances that the difference is due to chance alone. Every graduate student at some time or another tries to devise some alternative hypothesis that fits the data and has to be refuted. If you succeed, you've guaranteed funding for a decade. That's good enough to get you tenure.
The phylogenetic tree is the critical structure that frames descent of the species. Initially, it was based on anatomic features. When molecular genetics came along, it created a new test. You could compare the sequences of two genes and create a statistical model of the parent sequence the modern genes came from. The molecular data fit the anatomic data with an incredibly high degree of accuracy. It was not perfect. There were a few surprises that anatomically similar species turned out to be much less related than previously expected and vise versa.
If you compare enough genes, you create enough comparisons that repeatedly show common descent. Numerous alternatives have been considered and dismissed.

We're never going to prove Evolution is the one and only way this could have ever happened. What has been proven is that it is entirely possible. It is feasible that there is another explanation that works even better, but don't hold your breath. Until we find something that actually contradicts Evolution, there is *no need* for another theory.
People who disbelieve Evolution tend to support Creationism (aka Intelligent Design). Unfortunately, that idea (not a theory) was disproven, and promptly abandoned, over a century ago. So it's not like there's a viable alternative out there.

Evolution is a theory that is, itself, evolving ;-) like all scientific theories, it is adjusted whenever new information arises. It was a theory that came from looking at the facts and making a conclusion, rather than starting with a conclusion and then looking for support, like other theories.
It may not be the right answer, but it's a better answer. "God did it" or even 'aliens did it' are completely useless propositions scientifically, because they lead to nothing.
And btw faith and science do not necessarily contradict each other. Faith answers the question 'why?'. Science answers the question 'how?' Creationism and ID theories offer nothing regarding HOW something was done.

So far, no other theory has the evidence or predictive power of evolution.
Come up with a new theory that explains all the previously existing evidence and has superior predictive power, and you'll be on to something.
Until then, evolution rules the roost.

Actually, we all have a common ancestor. It just happens to be a one celled piece of pond scum. If you go back far enough, bees and flies do have common ancestors. They just mutated along different paths. I personally think that this is a much more likely scenario than hundreds of creatures spontaneously developing nearly identical dna.

The problem with saying that "there are other possibilities" is that you didn't bring any of them up. You didn't say what those possibilities are. Because your god creating them is NOT one of them. If you want to say evolution is wrong, then its up to YOU to prove it. Your bible doesn't count.
