I have been diagnosed with having costochondritis for over a year now. I recently had a tragedy occur and I have noticed it getting worse. For awhile it was as if my breath was burning everytime I had to take a deep breath. I was having to take a lot of deep breaths. Today it is more sharp. I can feel it when I press on my sternum so I am sure that's what it is. I have been taking ib profen. I also think I have some anxiety and depression. I was wondering if that could make it worse or if that's what was causing it. I just feel run down and weak. I've also had a sinus infection and am treating that. I'm just lost and don't know what to do about this stupid stuff. Any help would be great.

Yes, stress and anxiety will definitely contribute to making it worse. Try some kind of relaxtion like yoga, meditation, a walk in nature. You need to calm your insides.
From my experience, doctors are clueless as to what causes costochondritis, but I know that stress definitely worsens the situation.
