I have 4 cats and to gerbils the cats jump on the cage the gerbils dont seem bothered (assuming the cats don't get in the cage) is it dangerous for the gerbils?

As long as the cats cannot actually touch the gerbils, it should be okay. Not the greatest situation for the gerbils' nerves, so the cats should be discouraged, but it's not a dangerous situation.

I have 4 cats and 1 gerbil!
I can see where your coming from in this, and it is a worry.
3 of my cats just simple ignore the gerbil, but one can't seem to leave him alone. She's always on the cage if I turn my back.
She's knocked over the cage and she's managed to get hold of the gerbils tail once aswell.
I keep the Gerbil locked in the bathroom now. And he's still alive and well :)
Keep them seperated, it's for the best.

not really as long as there is no way the cats can knock over the cage or get inside the cage the gerbils should be fine. just keep an eye on the gerbils. i would say it shouldn't harm them if the cat is on top ofthe cage watching the gerbils

Its not normally danerous but havin three cats my self and a erbil of my own I can tell you that unless you discourae the cats from going near the cage some thing will happen. My cat knocked my gerbils cage off once but didn't touch my gerbil

If the gerbils aren't bothered and the cage has a strong and secure top ..... no problem.

I used to have three cats and a cockatiel. The cats sat on top of the cage and the bird just nibbled their tails and paws. No worries.

Secure, strong top .... that's the key.

maybe you should put the gerbils in another room where the cats cant get to. I have degus(like gerbils) and even though we have a really good cage , one of the was eaten by our cat. Move them to keep them safe

Those gerbils will have a heart attack and drop dead on the spot one day. Its cruel to torment them like that. Keep the cats away. How would you like a bloody big rottweiler eyeing you up like you're its next meal???

if they have somewhere to hide and they don't seem too scared then its not dangerous. but still not a good idea to let the cat do it as there might be an accident one day, and the cat will eat them.

Take the cats off every time and tell them no in a loud voice.
