Well, if one's religion outlines specific roles and behavior for each gender, one may either acquiese, or grow discontent and re-examine their beliefs. If a religion specifies that one gender is inferior to the other, you have oppression in spiritual life which kills growth and fulfillment. This can lead to picking and chosing what to believe, or it can lead to leaving the faith altogether.

Religions or spiritual philosophies that don't dictate what each gender must do, and treat all as human beings, allow for more balance and I think, better spiritual health and stability.

in most cultures it is understood that women are more in tune spiritually, and require less study to achieve peace and understanding about their purpose in life.

personally, i think that is more easily seen among adults. children seem to be equally spiritual, spiritual meaning not knowledge of their parent's belief system, but a natural acceptance of the universe as being magical and important.

perhaps gender just affects how much of that childlike quality is lost due to societal gender roles.

Gender in and of itself probably has little impact on spirituality.

I would be willing to bet that personality type does impact spirituality though.
