According to the prescribing information, VYTORIN users should not consume grapefruit juice in excess of a quart daily, especially in higher doses. The 10/80 strength is the highest dose available. Taken together increased side effects can occur, some of which could be serious.

More than likely, eating a whole grapefruit a day should not cause a problem (the problems were seen with juice, not the fruit), but with such a high dose involved, it might not be a bad idea to eat an orange instead. If you do decide to eat the grapefruit and you experience any side effects, especially muscle pain or weakness, contact your doctor immediately.

I hope this helps.

Just don't take the med WHEN you eat the grapefruit. Take it a half hour before or after you eat the grapefruit.
