I'm not giving up anything i havent already given up. the bible doesnt say not to eat meat during lent... in fact the bible doesnt talk about lent... it is a manmade 'celebration' made by men... since the bible doesnt call me to give up stuff here or there specifically, i don't follow a manmade rule

What ever for ? it means nothing to God if their is no real change of the heart..If you go back living like the devil the next day you really have done nothing by giving up whatever it is that you gave up.

I'm not giving up anything; I like my life just fine the way it is. But yahoo answers is definitely an indulgence; why not give that up for awhile?

Which verse in the Bible commands this? Please share.

If you do something sinful and you are a true Christian, you will not desire to ever do such things that cause you to be distant from God, not just at a certain time of the year.

I would say that, if you give up sin at a certain time (for the sake of a ritual) and then go back to it, you need to check your salvation.

Good plan. I haven't decided on what I'm giving up. Last year, I gave up eating on Fridays period. I regret doing that, I lasted until the last week, and then was too sick to move on. Maybe I'll give up eating at a restaraunt. Thanks for the advice.

Lent is pagan.
I do not practice it.
I give up nothing for the coming or going of Jesus..
He did it and I am free.

Lent is a practice by some people who don't know any better.
Even some Baptists do it.
Of course they practice tithing also--another no no.
I am surprised.

you are supposed to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, and on each Friday during Lent.

I'm pretty sure you are supposed to abstain from sex on certain days as well, but as I am married that shouldn't be a problem.
