How to dye black hair light brown and highlight?

My friend dyed her hair black and wants to go back to what she said before (brown with blonde highlights) WITHOUT having to go to a salon. I'm thinking she's have to bleach it all first a little bit first (to get it a brown), apply a light brown shade, and then bleach in the highlights. But whoa thats a lot of bleach. Anyone have any better ideas? (Its not as long as it was in that pick, it's a lot shortner now)

Or if she bleaches it just enough to get a brown, dyes it a lighter brown to show the way she wants, then uses a strong highlighting kit instead of bleaching

Yup she has to bleach her hair b4 she can have a lighter shade,once u dyed into a dark shade kinda hard to have a lighter shade again unless u bleach.I never like to bleach coz it isnt healthy for ure hair.Makes it dry n brittle.U can buy the bleach n color at home but preferbly ask her to have someone help her when she's doin it.Wudnt wanna miss a spot.Wud recommend she do d highlights in a different day. Least let d hair rest after the bleach n color for awhile..a few days or a week perhaps b4 she decides to bleach n get d highlights in? Good Luck wid it tho!
Also dont forget to moisturize lots after all that bleaching..

i did the same thing, but i went to a salon, and got my black hair stripped, then i had it dyed. bleach is gonna fuccck your hair up! i highly suggest going to a salon, and have a pro do it, i hate dying my own hair

I'm sorry, but that's probably the only way that it'll work.

Next time tell your friend to carefully consider the color before drastically dying her hair.
