.rar format is not a media file. Or at least not yet. They are compressed files like zip files and may contain many files inside them. They are compressed into one file to make it easier to download over the internet. You need to download and install Winrar so you can expand the rar files to get to the actual files contained inside.

It's an archived file, you'd have to extract the contents of it before using what's inside.
Winrar is a good choice for RAR archives.

A .rar file is similar to a .zip file. They are a compressed file. I would use bittorrent to get WinRAR so that you can open these files.

I'm guessing you wanna unpack .rar files.
Go to Download.com, search for WinRAR and download it. Install it and after completion, try running those .rar files again and if it doesnt open, then do this. Open WinRAR and then look for the file and it should unpack it. Good luck

.rar files are compressed files and they are a little like the envelope that contains a letter sent through the post office. The video is inside.
To open the "envelope" you only need to double-click on the .rar and Windows should unwrap it for you.
A better, easier to use "Zipper/Unzipper" is IZArc, freeware, that lets you right-click to extract files. Google for it.

WinRAR.
you can't play .rar. That's a compressed file. First you extract it with winRAR or winZIP, or any compression tool, and then play whatever there is
