it seems i have a bad credit rating, but im trying to get a loan / car finance because last week i had to have my car scrapped and i start a new job on thursday in the middle of nowhere! how do i find out what my credit score looks like, and if there is any chance of me getting rejected again and again? and does looking at quotes go on your credit rating? (e.g looking on money supermarket etc)

One time every year you can get a copy of your credit report from 3 reporting agencies. You should start by getting the reports to see what negative items there are. You generally have to pay to get your credit score, but some credit cards offer it free to their customers.

You can see your reports for free, but it costs money for the score. And teh score is what will tell you if you can get a loan or not-- over 700 is excellent, over 600 and you're doing okay, below and its "poor" so you'll pay high interest rates or can't get the loan.

Stop applying until you figure out what your score/report looks like, and know what you're looking at before you walk into the dealership.
