In other words, what keeps you going, what helps you beat procrastination or depression. I see people who get up in the morning and just go. Not sure if they are "programmed" (habit) or if they really have a why (purpose). Tell me about you.

There's a lot of great advice here. One thing that I do is start every day reading a good personal development book. Whether it's 10 pages or 10 minutes. It sets the tone of your day. Habits are just programming. You want positve programming. Two books I recommend are 'The Slight Edge' by Jeff Olson and 'What to say When You Talk to Yourself' by Shad Helmstetter. Remember it's the decisions you make every day that produce results over the long run. Good or bad.

I've set goals for my self to achieve. I try do take one step at the time. What keeps me going? I really want it. What's my alternative if I do not get up in the morning and try to achieve yet another goal? Sometimes getting up in the morning and getting through that day is an achievement on it's own. The things I intend to reach are not all easy at all. I need relaxation. I make the time to spend time with friends even if I sometimes prefer to stay home alone on the couch in front of the tv. When I've been active, in relaxing or studying or working, I notice I feel good and that's what keeps me going again the next day.

each day goals are made to accomplish the smallest of tasks as well as larger goals. the victory of completion of the smaller ones gives strength to be victorious over the larger ones. have small daily goals, maybe just 3, have weekly goals, a little bigger, maybe 1-3. same with the month and have a 5 year goal. Make these goals reasonably attainable and change-able. Make them easy. Your natural evolution at the completion of the little ones will give you self-esteem to reach higher. I do this and sometimes I don't meet my expectations but always remind myself the victories and and the knowledge gained from the failure teaches me what not to do the next time so that even in failure I am able to maintain a positive mental attitude.

Yea that's defenetly something that comes from within, because nobody can make you do anything unless you want it. So if you want something bad enough you'll work for it or you'll be willing to make certain sacrifices in order to achieve those goals/dreams. I think it all starts with having a dream, or goal that is always a good start, & once you reitarate that goal or dream to yourself often enough to thepoint where you believe it/start actually having a clear vision of your plans & seeing progress through your efforts thats what will kepp you going. So ultimatly you want to surround yourself or place yourself in an enviroment that will be condusive to your goal achivement & that will nurture your desire to succeed. Unfortunatly not everyone believes in themselves and what they are really capable of & that is what holds a lot of peopel back I think!
