I'm thinking about purchasing a used car. Both the above vehicles have 43,000 miles and are in impeccable condition. They both are going for the same rate, I guess I just have to make a decision.

The question is which one will be more reliable down the road?

I can attest to Honda/Acura's relability, but the Passat is a tad bit classier on the inside and comfortable to drive.

Any advice?

V-Dubs are good for 40,000 miles and then they begin to fall apart. The Jetta and the Passat especially. Ask around.
I promise you that the Acura is the way to go. You won't regret it.

I'd go with everyone else.. You'd be better off with Honda/Acura's reliability.. Plus, the TL's a good looking car too. Their parts are also cheaper than the euro cars.

My uncle's Passat's tiptronic transmission went nuts bout 3 months ago. It started to miss 2nd.. He got quoted for 5k for a new transmission by the dealer.

I have driven it. It is fast and fun to drive and it is very reliable. I have driven the Acura Blue Type-S. I like the Acura Blue color that they use on their race cars. i think that color is the best choice. This car is hard to find cheap. I would rate it a 10/10.

Like everyone else, I'll recommend Acura. Its interior is not as classy as the Passat's, but it is close. Trust me, you don't want the aggrevation of owning a Volkswagen.

I woudl do the Acura, having many friends with VW's, none of had a decent experience. One of them has dumped over $7K into repairs and she has no choice since she has bad credit and really can't get anything else, so she's stuck.

Check JDPower for reliability data.

Acura of course. I hate Passats and Jettas. They are ugly girly cars. I like the VW GTI though.

most european cars will end up costing you more in maintence, both sceduled and suprise. i would go with the acura, but it really depends on how the cars were treated by thier previous owners.
