My mother passed away 10 months ago a few months back, I heard her call my name. I could have sworn that it was her voice. Does anybody believe that the dead can communicate with us?

"For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?" Psalms 6:5, "The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence." Psalms 115:17 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun."Ecclesiastes 9:5&6 There is another but I forgot where to find it but it says neither shall they return to their homes anymore. In Thessalonians 4:13-18 is very good also. It describes death as a time of sleep and Jesus was the first of those that sleep to be raised. It says, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord". It is interesting that so many groups think that as soon as you die you immediately go to heaven when the Bible clearly states that when He returns He brings his reward with him so how could they already be getting their reward? If you would get a concordance and look up death, dead and resurrection you wil learn a lot. The idea of immediate life after death was brought into existence when the pagans and Christians became one. It is not scriptural. I am looking forward to the biggest party and family reunion of all time...resurrection morning. My way of dealing with my Mom's death is thinking of it as though she were off on a vacation and we will meet on resurrection morning. I am sorry about you losing your Mom. Remember it is not a forever goodbye, but, I'll see you later. Mmm

You're not alone. I have expirienced something similar to this a few years back after my grandfather passed on. I heard his voice in his old room about a month after he died. I believe that the dead have special ties to the physical relm, and they want to stay in touch with family and influential people. I have seen somewhat of an apparition as well, so the dead do exist, and they have ways of communicating with us. I hope this answers the quetstion.

Yes, but since there is no such thing as what you consider death, you are experiencing her energy, transmitting from another vibrational dimension.

She obviously does not feel dead.

For those who appear to be so adamant about no after-life. You may wish to at least keep an open mind and express some flexibility. Being flexible allows one to bend in the face of adversity. The more rigid in thought the greater chance of breaking when beliefs are challenged.

In reply to the first answer, when the Bible speaks of the dead, they are referring to spiritual death. Those who have gone to hell. It's not referring to physical death. Sounds like you need to study the Catholic version of death. The dead is alive and well. They pray for us in Heaven. They know exactly what goes on. I lost my son in a car accident. He is around me always. He can touch me; communicate with me etc. He is very much alive and well. He is one of my angels.

No. Auditory hallucinations are not uncommon for people who are experiencing grief. They happen more during times of high stress, and special occasions.

I imagine that I hear my mother's voice, and she's not dead. I heard her speak my name many times a day for many years. It is a deeply-rooted memory. When she's been away for a long time, it happens more often, because I am subconsciously thinking of her.

I'm sorry for your loss.

No they don't, I'm sorry. My mother died, but I never heard her call. There is no real proof. But you are going through a stressfull time and you should always look for the simplest explination before going on to explanations involving supernatural powers. It sucks your mom is gone. You will never see her again, but never forget the time you spent with her and you keep her alive.

No I do not believe the dead can speak to us I believe it is Satan trying to draw people away from God with deception. And the bible tells us not to try to communicate with the dead.

Absolutely yes. That was your mother. She comes to visit you every so often.

Our loved ones come around during illness or birthdays or any other "eventful" time. They also come to check in and just let you know they are around and caring for you.

You may have dreams of her-don't doubt-your mother is truly visiting you in a way that your sub-conscious can handle.

Ask her in your dream for a specific sign so that you know when she is around, whether it's the phone ringing only once, or even "just a feeling" that only you & mom know.

I hope this helps, and I'm sending you healing hugs.

You want to hear your mother so bad that your brain has found a way to comfort you with giving you the illusion of hearing her voice. Your own memory of her is speaking to you.

I believe you heard your mom, she will be in your memories as long as you live. The dead do not communicate to us. The Bible tells us they are dead. Satan causes those who want to believe they are communicating hear them, that is one of his ways to make it into our lives without us really knowing he is influencing us. We want to be able to communicate so badly and he knows that, so it is a perfect thing for him to get ahold of us. Please pray for guidance, I will pray for you also.
