Does putting your hair down make your face appear smaller or larger?

Putting your hair down makes you face smaller because it frames your face. But when i first started putting my hair up, i thought my face looked really weird and small.

Logically putting your hair down would make your face look smaller as your covering half of it... I guess it depends on the style of your hair and the shape of your face.
