They say they believe in the Constitution, yet they believe in censorship, curtailing the rights of other citizens(i.e. gay marriage), and steeping religion into politics.
Don't these things go against our principles as a nation?

They seem to be. They also believe the bible places them above the Constitution and their following a "Higher Power" places them above the law. When they were bombing abortion clinics and murdering doctors they claimed it as a religious act and those convicted for it were claimed to be martyrs. They are just as nuts as the Taliban and Al Quaida.

(God Hates Liberals has his facts wrong again, nobody tried to ban the movie. What they did was force the conservative to remove the falsehoods and lies by threatening to sue them for libel. That movie was packed full of rightwing lies and terribly slanderous statements. Typical of the religious rightwing nuts that created and funded it. I think even Dr. Goebbels, the Nazi propganda genius would have blushed at the blatant falsehoods presented by the Fascist Rightwing Fanatics in that sorry excuse for a film)

Not all Christians believe those things. Political philosophies can be influenced by religious beliefs, but there can still be discussion even with these beliefs.

For example, as a Christian, I believe in free will. I believe that God allows us to be exposed to evil and to choose what we watch and see. So if some guy wants to put out porn, he can, it's his choice. It's America. It's God's world with freedom of choice.

I also hate mixing religion and government because of this very reason. I hate that my faith is poluted by politics so that when nonbelievers look at us, they think "moral majority", "anit-gays", or "censorship", rather than "grace", "love", "Giving", "Christ" or "redemption".

As for gay marriage, there is a way to satisfy both sides, giving equal rights and taking religion/personal life out of the government's hands. It's called abolishing marriage and having only civil unions for everyone. That way, the churches can decide who they "marry", since marriage is a religious institution anyway. Gays have all the legal rights of any couple in this case. Take government out of marriage, take religion out of government.

I think the Christians you are talking about love America, mean well, but just have a different opinion of the government's role (in my view, a wrong one).

I see nothing in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights that says Americans have the right to do whatever they wish. That's anarchy and it's decidedly anti-American.

Case in point: do you support child pornography? Probably not. Why? Because it hurts children and it just blatently wrong. Using your argument, it should be accepted as an "alternative lifestyle." Clearly, then, society is permitted to set certain moral standards without violating the Constitution.

Some certainly are...American versions of the Taliban. The Jerry Falwells, Pat Robertsons, Fred Phelpses, Kent Hovinds, Phyllis Shafeleys, etc... all seem intent on tearing apart the Constitution in favor of heavy preference for their version of religion if not outright theocracy. Fortunately for every one of the, there are two or more of folks of all religions who can oppose them

As long as they don't fall asleep.

Gay marriage is not in the constitution thank God it is state law. Don't try and confuse the two. and unchristian are against it too. Americans have freedom of choice That's sort of like free will it's American as Apple pie.

Most Christians want to keep their faith out of politics except where it already was at the founding of the constitution. Remember, the constitution contains a lot of language in reference to GOD.

Liberals also believe in censorship.

They tried to ban the T.V. movie "The road to 9/11" because it exposed Clinton's failures during his term.

They spoke out against the Dutch cartoonists depiction of Muhammed.

If you do not want censorship then it has to be across the board.

I'm a Christian and I'm very much an American. There is also a question of when do you follow the Law of the Land....If it is a contradiction to God's law, then it's wrong. Period.

Look guy. For one it is not our fault you are homosexual. Secondly you know that Constitution you just typed about. God was in mind when it was written. I am sorry you refuse to believe in God. I know it is "in" these days. Don't be bidder at the word of God because you refuse to follow it. Be happy your governement at least sticks to the word of God. If it was run like you wanted it would be 90X worse than it already is.

As a foreigner I can say that evangelicals are a big embarassment to the US. They bring shame and ridicule on America with their absurd ideology.
