As a retired senior citizen, with the only source of income being Social Security, living in a subsidized senior citizen complex in the state of Missouri, do I need to file a tax return?

If your only income is social security, you don't need to file a federal return, and probably not a state return either but check that with someone who knows for sure about the state one.

This year though, if you've had a phone with long distance service sometime between 2003 and early 2006, you should file a 1040EZ-T to get the telephone excise tax credit refund. It'll be $30 in your pocket, $40 if you are a 2-person household. You can download the form at irs.gov or pick up a copy at your local library.

Yes, the government likes to know you're alive, and this is the only way they can do so, Census takers are so impersonal, all they care about is statistics. The Tax guy, now he wants to know how you've been. He asks all those personal questions how much have you spent on medication, where have you gone, how much did you earn. Real caring there.

No. If you have no income other than SS, you have no tax liability and do NOT need to file a return, either Federal or MO.

If your SOcial Security is taxable, yes you need to file for taxes.
