I had someone who used to do this to me also. I just left him to it and he soon got board. Turns out that he actually really loved me and wanted to be with me but I soon asked myself if he was like that when he loved me how was he going to be when we fell out!?! Also did you know that you can block certain numbers ringing you on a mobile (if that is what he is ringing) it should be in your menu somewhere.
Sounds like your much better of without him as he sounds like he is just a bully and won't evan say this stuff to you he has to say it behind a phone!

Why take his calls? If he says he's done, then the next time he calls to fight with you tell him that YOU are done!

he is having a hard time of letting you go, maybe when thing fell apart he couldn't understand why they did and that made him angry. Does he blame you for alot of things? if so then he is just being childish. i'm going through a bad break up right now, i'm trying to figure out everything that i did wrong, and there is a lot of little things but nothing serious. He doesn't know how to cope with his feelings for you. maybe he needs to vent, it's all very complicated, i wish you the best of luck.

Why are you allowing him to keep calling you, tell him to stop, or you do not have to answer. Now you do not have to put up with it. You are giving him all of the power. Take your life back, and find new friends, and just have some fun.
