Only the people who were invited to the wedding are obligated to give her a present. A nice gesture might be to all sign a card congratulating her and wishing her well in her future endeavors, or perhaps....if you want to go there, a small gift from everyone at the office (everyone contributes 3-5 dollars).

No. It is a good thing though if we take the anitiative to do something other persons will remember us by. A card is not that expensive..make your own if you have the nack.
Most people invite persons that they think will give an expensive gift or they are very close friends. Do not feel offended for either reasons...you are pronounced original from others!! Just take a moment and think about it and act on your reasonings. You will be blessed for being kind to others and it will come back to you some day.

I couldn't invite all of my coworkers. I had practically grown up there, and I felt horrible. But, they threw me a small little get together and took a collection. You might want to try this. They have no idea who gave what money, they just see your name on the card. I thought it was very nice. They had a cake and some roses and the card with money in it. It was very nice and totally unexpected.

obligated? Definitely not.
You can give them a present if you so wish, but you are not obligated. Personally, I would give them a card wishing them well. Maybe the reason to invite only a few was based on finances, where only the closest friends could come..

Only those who are invited to the wedding are expected to give a gift, whether they attend or not. For example: my mother was invited to my sister in law's wedding, but cannot attend; however, she is still sending a gift. As for her looking for a new job, that should not effect anything. If you were invited, it would be considerate of you to get them a gift, but if you weren't invited, you are not obligated to give anything.

The looking for another job has nothing to do with it. You're not obligated to give a present. Send a nice card with sincere congratulations.

The only people that should feel obligated to give a present are the people that receive invitations. Save your money.

If you weren't invited to the wedding then you don't have to get the couple anything ... however, it would be a nice gesture if there was an office money pool to buy the couple one thing from everyone, or just get them a card and have everyone sign it. It is completely up to the office and isn't by any means required.

Only those invited to the wedding are obliged to send or bring a gift. (Note: Even if you don't go, but were invited, you need to send a gift.) You might get hit up to bring one to a shower, but unless you know and like the person, you are not obliged to send a gift if you do not attend.

I don't think it's a obligation, but if you've worked with this person, it may be nice to chip in to buy a small gift with several people. This person cannot possibly invite everyone from your work place, so he/she invited people who were close. This is normal. Be happy for your co-worker and wish him/her the best.
