I like in the E 80th and 1st area of Manhattan. I am new to town and am looking for a cool place, with a good atmosphere, where I can go after work to get a glass of wine and get some more work done. Having a wireless internet connection is a must.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

DT-UT on Second Avenue between 84th and 85th. They serve soups, sandwiches, quiche, fondues, etc.

Wish I could help, but Upper East Side is not what one would call a "cool place". It is not the type of an area where you are going to find what you are looking for - atmosphere, wine, internet. You are going to need to sort of pick and choose what you want. You want internet, well, then you need Starbucks, it's one of the few places around that I know has it. I've walked past a few places on 2nd that I think said they had internet access, but were all coffee shops. I'm on the Westside now, but lived on the Eastside in the 80's for many many years. If you want atmosphere and to just relax, but not sure about wine, and be really comfortable, the BEST place is on 2nd and 85th, called DTUT, great couches to just veg out in, but don't think they have internet or didn't when I was there last. Great place for glass of wine, Willow on I think Lex, high 70's. Also good for a drink, Mustang Grill, has outside area, as does Willow in the summer (spring). But put them all together, I'm sort of lost and I know the area.
Good luck. It's more of something I think you would find in Chelsea or the Village

78th and 2nd, there's a great wine bar called Uva. It's a wine bar, not a coffee shop like DTUT, but I love it.
