Jesus didn't ask us to do Him a favor by repenting. He commanded us to repent. To repent is to turn away from sin. Plain and simple and there are no exceptions. God says that homosexuality is an abomination, not just a minor sin. Jesus said that He didn't want just lip service. Yes, I am paraphrasing right now. How can you call your self a Christian, but yet continue to do something that God considers an abomination.
And don't tell me how society has changed. It is in many ways the same now as it was during the days of the Roman Empire. Jesus did rebuke the unrepentant. He was not tolerant of sin. He told the adulterous woman to go and sin no more. He didn't say, OK now that you are forgiven go back and do the stuff you were doing and don't sweat it. He commanded and demanded repentance.
As far as the homosexual priest, according to scripture, he is to be rebuked and kicked out of the church. The Bible is quite clear on this and in black and white with no room for interpretation.

Becoming saved means that you no longer desire to sin. It does not mean that you will never sin again. So, if you are homosexual and you accept Jesus as your Savior...

you will not desire to do any sin that grieves the Holy Spirit (you become Spirit filled when receiving Salvation). It will really bother you to commit any sin. You will turn away from all sin, in a way that you will struggle, knowing that something is sinful. You will not want to PRACTICE sin anymore.

It does not mean that you will never commit that sin again. Once you are saved, you are going to struggle with that one sin that had you down, for the rest of your life. The thing is to try to stay away from familiar places where the sin is.

Even if you have been a Christian for years (after being a practicing homosexual), and you have now married and have children, you will always be tempted by your favorite sin.

I can't believe the ignorance with some of these answers! The vast majority of gays are born/made that way. It's a quirk in the DNA somewhere and the operating system of the brain. (I don't know all of the medical terms) They have done lots of studies on this, but nobody pays attentions to the science behind it. I can't choose if I have brown hair or red hair, or being tall or short. What if I lived in a society of people that were only 6 ft tall and bigger, and I was only 4 ft?! They would shun, ostracize and be mean to me. But, I couldn't do a thing to change it! If you're born homosexual, does that mean you are destined to live your life alone and without intimate closeness until you die? Would Jesus want that for any of his children? The Jesus I know loves unconditionally.

1) Isn't belief in the crucifixion prerequisite for being a Christian?

2) Getting what sins forgiven? A sin like murder, etc... or the "sin of being gay"...?

I believe that being gay is not a choice. I believe that gays don't make up their minds that that is how they are going to have sex. Gays are born to be gay. They are physically and mentally set apart from the rest of us. If that is true, would God create homosexuals and not love them? I don't think so. I belong to the United Church of Christ and we believe that all humans are loved by God and were redeemed by Christ. Our motto is "That they may all be one" If you are gay...and looking for a church that is open and apostolic....check out the UCC.

I would say yes. We all have sins we don't acknowledge or addictions we have difficulty with. God created us, He knows our hearts and our human weaknesses. The bible does say repent of your sin, but have any of us been able to be sin free once we are saved? No. We are still human. We still have impure thoughts. Jesus said that to even think of another woman after you are married is an act of adultry. Do you really think that married men once saved don't notice other women? Does that count as an unrepented sin? How would they control their minds? I am not saying that the act of gay sex is the same as this, but the thoughts and feelings would be. And the bible says that he who keeps the whole law but stumbles on one point is guilty of all. So to me if there is faith, there is forgiveness. That is the whole point.

Now if that is not an oxymoron!! Gay Christian, there is no such thing. Either you are one or the other but can't be both and be saved. There will be many that believe lies in the end time as Jesus said but the only way to know the truth is to study the bible. there are many texts that say the homosexual, so called gay, will not be in Heaven. Can't be much plainer than that.

This is covered in the Bible...

Homosexuality is a sin. A FORGIVABLE sin... Meaning that a homosexual would have to repent and turn away from it much as a drunkard would have to turn away from alcohol, an adulterer away from his/her lovers.

Until they do this... They are still under the bonds of sin and therefore the penalty.

Lets look at all the evil in the world, shall we? Rape, war, homeless children....yeah, I can see why you're worried about gay christians. Because being a gay christian is just so much more important. Gah, get over yourself, will ya? I highly doubt Christ gives a **** about gays. Not when there's so much more going on in the world.

Scripture tells us that salvation is a two step process: first, you must believe; then, you must repent (turn away from sin). Anyone who doesn't turn from sin and instead chooses to live in it is not saved.

A gay Christian is no different than a murderer, liar, thief, adulterer, heterosexual fornicator, etc. ANY person who refuses to give up living in repeated, unrepentent sin is NOT saved.

So the answer to your question is: no.
