secondary treatment can either be anoxic (Insoluble sludge formed from sedimentation) or aerobic (soluble liquid). in anoxic treatment microorganisms digest the sludge by hydrolysing it. though the action of anoxic microorganisms the macromolecular waste components are first digested by polysccharases, proteases, and lipase's into soluble components.
Aerobic treatment is when microorganisms aerobically metabolise low nutrient water.
