As long as you feel up to it. You may want to take it a little easier though. I guess it depends on what kind of sick. If you have a head cold than you should be good to go. If you have congestion in your chest - that's when you should back off of any intense cardio. It never hurts to take a day of rest anyway.

Being in the military, I've had to exercise when I'm not feeling well. Yes it can be done, no it won't feel good, but so far it hasn't killed me.

Take it easy if you can, but the body is a remarkable machine it can take a lot of punishment and still keep going. It is the will behind the body that drives it.

If the will is strong a weak body will not slow you down.

Hi Vanessa,

it depends entirely on the nature of your sickness and how you feel.

Many people who have sickness maintain a fitness regime, or work hard physically without causing themselves any harm.

Obviously you didn't want to tell us exactly how you are suffering and what from, so the progress depends on you.

I would suggest that if you take your normal excercise and you begin to feel more unwell, you stop immediately and seek medical advice.

Obviously there are many physical conditions that would not be improved by hard physical excercie, just as there are many conditions that would be improved by the same excercie.

Don't take chances, if you are feeling unwell please see your doctor and stop the excercise until he/she says it is OK to continue.

Overall I believe most people are better with excercise than without it...but don't take the risk!

Good luck,

BobSpain
