no just disguting and bland - it turns into a plate of one taste - boring.
In response to you you moron, if i don't like a particular type of food who are you to tell me otherwise you moron. i love ethnic food but find indian food bland, its the most popular food in the uk because the english have a poor palet and chavs and council scum think food is just good if its really hot

Maybe dishes you get from takeaways or restaurants can be because some of the dishes do use cream. But most dishes made in Indian households are not. My husband is hindu and has a huge family and his sisters and sister-in-laws have taught me how to cook authentically. They hardly ever use cream at all - in fact I have only seen them use it once, they tend to use yoghurt if they need it. They do use butter but when you think they will make a huge pot which feeds a lot of people its negligable. We don't eat rice either, being from the punjab its chapatis.

Indian food can go both ways. CERTAIN Indian foods will contain more calories and more fat - usually the ones with creamier sauces or coconut milk (which has a lot of saturated fat). Rice can also pack in alot of calories so it really all depends on your portion sizes and what you choose to eat. Stick to chicken, and non-cream (or coconut milk-based) sauces. Cut down on the rice or roti bread - eat more of the vegetables and spice (spicy foods can raise body temperature and actually help you to burn more calories). I love Indian food - its fantastic.

It is usually the sauces which have a high fat content, as they are often made with cream, and sometimes too much oil. There are plenty of dishes which are lower in fat though, and rice is very low fat.
